CAFE TYPES
There are many types of cafes, my favorite and the ones I visit most are the ones that rescue stray cats and find them forever homes and where the profits from the cafes go in large part to care for the cats. There are cafes where you can have coffee and/or food, sometimes separate from the "cat room" There are "cafes" that are really not cafes at all but cat adoption centers, where you can just hang out with the cats and perhaps apply to adopt one.
CAFE RULES
ABOUT CAFES
There have always been cats in pub, cafes, farms, etc. These are "Working Cats", tasked with keeping the rodent population at bay. Read up on the bubonic plague and how humans and working cats played a role in this.
There are many types of cat cafes, the differences may be attributed to local laws, health regulations or culture.
The world's first cat cafe is generally attributed to "Cat Flower Garden," which opened in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1998
Today, there are cat cafes all over the world, even in countries where pet culture is just starting to take hold.
There are even cat hotels and a cat island in Japan.
Each cafe has their own "house rules", but in general:
- Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer.
- Remove your shoes. (most cafes), some provide shoe covers or slippers.
- Don't make loud noises.
- Don't pick up the cats. It's perfectly fine if a cat decides they want to sit on your lap.
- Don't wake sleeping cats.
- Be gentle. Not all all cats like belly rubs.
- Take Pictures, but no flash.
- Watch your children. Cats are not toys.
- Watch the doors. Cats are known escape artists.
